Those of you interested in learning more about young people in the Middle East may want to check out this new publication from Brookings Press, Generation in Waiting: The Unfulfilled Promise of Young People in the Middle East, by Navtej Dhillon and Tarik Yousef. Both parties have ties to the World Bank, and Yousef to the IMF as well, so the book promises an economically-minded look at the rising generation of Middle Easterners. Here is the book’s page on Brookings’ website; there is a link at the bottom to a fact sheet on it. Moreover, the edited volume includes contributors from several Middle East based think tanks, which will hopefully mean it presents a point of view you haven’t already read from the many think tanks publishing and researching in English.
